A new image has been released showing how Birmingham's Symphony Hall will look as part of a £12 million regeneration project.

The venue has unveiled a new artist's impression of its plans to regenerate part of the building's foyer, looking out onto Centenary Square which is also currently having a facelift.

The image shows a new performance space which forms part of the wider redevelopment of the public areas within Symphony Hall, its first major facelift work since it opened in Broad Street in 1991.

The new project is named 'Making an Entrance' and is also previewed in the video above.

Anita Bhalla, chairman of the Symphony Hall board, said: "We believe that this project will not only future proof the business but it will give our local communities more flexible spaces in which to showcase their work, supporting our ambition to be a truly inclusive organisation.

"Symphony Hall is already a national icon - this project will ensure that the youth, diversity and creativity of our wonderful city region becomes an embedded part of our story."

The regeneration project was first unveiled back in January when architects were appointed to design the scheme.

An exhibition about the development is being held in the foyer of Symphony Hall on Tuesday, November 27.
