Any Brummies fancying burning some rubber on an indoor go-karting track can rejoice.

A brand-new venue is set to be built in the West Midlands - and Brummies can be there within half an hour.

The new complex, set to be built in Coventry, will be open for business in August 2018.

An actual date has not been announced yet, but is thought to be around the middle of the montn.

According to CoventryLive, a 25,000 sq ft purpose-built racing venue is planned by TeamSport.

The company already boasts more than 20 facilities across the country - with Coventry next on the list.

As well as the 25,000 sq ft go-kart racing venue, the proposals could see the development of eight, 5,000 sq ft commercial units after Coventry City Council’s planning committee approved proposals.

The plans will see a former Topshop factory , in Edgwick Park Industrial Estate on Canal Road, demolished to make way for the new attraction.

No precise details have yet been given for TeamSport’s Coventry facility but on its website the company says: “For fast and furious four-wheeled thrills, no one does it better than TeamSport.

“With 21 tracks across the country, perfect for a family day out, stag do, hen do, kids go-karting birthday party and more, you’ve arrived at the home of UK go-karting.

“Experience the full power of indoor go karting with multi-level tracks, banked corners, ramps and insanely fast straights, and track lengths up to an epic 1,000m.”
