A new bowling alley and late-night alternative venue is getting ready to open its doors to Brummies.
'Boutique Bowling' firm Lane7 was founded in Newcastle in 2014 has three sites across the UK
It will open in Birmingham on Friday August 3 at The Cube -housed in a empty unit formerly occupied by the short lived Geisha nightclub which closed in March 2017.
The new Birmingham Lane7 venue will include a UV-lit private karaoke booth for up to 16 and ping-pong tables, which can also be used for-beer pong - a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end.
There will also be several arcades including retro games like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man.
Prices have not yet been released for Birmingham - but they are available for the Newcastle outlet.
There bowling at peak times costs £8 per person per game, pool is £12 per table for an hour, ping pong is £12 per table at peak times for an hour and beer pong £15 including 4 cans of Red Stripe.
The focus is on bowling with nine state-of-the-art bowling lanes, split into three different sections on the ground level of The Cube.
Tim Wilks, founder of Lane7 said: “We’ve seen loads of interest since we announced we would be coming to the Midlands, so we knew we had to make this site special.
Unfortunately, we’ve been brainwashed for the last 20 years into thinking bowling is about plastic seats and plastic hot dogs in the dreary retail park.
"Lane7 is bringing the glamour back into bowling in the heart of Birmingham city nightlife.”
The arcades, karaoke, beer and ping-pong have been a huge hit in some of our other sites and it’s also great to be able to bring a brand-new feature in shuffleboard which we think Birmingham will love.
"With a late licensed bar offering the best cocktails and spirits in town, Birmingham won’t know what’s hit it.”
The city centre has a Tilt cafe at city arcade - where people can drink beer and coffees while playing retro arcade games but Lane7 will be the first late night entertainment of its kind in the city.
Lane7 opens the same day as SERVE Birmingham - an ping pong table venue, with 17 ping pong tables, a bar and restaurant which opens at at 55 Temple Row near House of Fraser.
