Popular Birmingham bar Bierkeller wants to install a roof terrace beer garden.

The new attraction would also serve Shooters sports bar Around the World and the Hampton by Hilton as well as the Bavarian-themed venue at the Broad Street complex.

A planning application, submitted to Birmingham City Council earlier this month, seeks to convert 2,422 sq ft (225sq m) of a second floor private car park directly above the three nightspots which is currently used by hotel customers.

It would see 18 car parking lost as well as four on the floor below to make way for an access directly into Shooters.

It is proposed the beer garden would be available from 11am to 9pm every day.

A document, submitted by planning agents Knights 1759 on behalf of applicants Anotherdate Ltd, said: "The proposal seeks to change the use of a section of the private car park (currently used in association with the Hampton by Hilton hotel) to provide a outdoor terrace.

"This proposal would function in direct association with the hotel and the three drinking establishments below of Bierkeller, Shooters, and Around the World and would provide an opportunity for their clientele to enjoy alfresco refreshment in the warmer months."

Birmingham Bierkeller is one of three venues under one roof including Shooters Sports Bar aka Shooters Sports n Shorts.

The Bierkeller complex opened at the former Brannigans in December 2016 in a £2.4m investment.

The Bavarian-style bar at the back sees revellers dancing on the benches to the sounds of an Oompah band with huge jugs of German beer in hand, while Shooters boasts one of the biggest - if not the biggest - non-cinema screens in the city to watch live sports.

Around the World provides a more relaxed atmosphere ideal for a meal.
