Review: Iron Maiden, at NIA, Birmingham

Master of Metal Iron Maiden cruised into Birmingham to kick off the last week of their year-long Final Frontier world tour.

And they boldly went into the show, their first at the NIA announced singer Bruce Dickinson, with all guns blazing and the volume turned up to 11.

They opened with the first two tracks from their latest album, Satellite 15... the Final Frontier and El Dorado, before turning back the clock to 1984 with 2 Minutes To Midnight.

There were more new songs in the shape of The Talisman and Coming Home but as the Final Frontier album was released last August fans have had chance to live with the tunes and they were greeted like old friends.

Dickinson celebrates his 53rd birthday on Sunday but he races around the stage like a man half his age, as do the other band members.

It may be the Final Frontier but it’s surely far from Iron Maiden’s last stand.
