The Manic Street Preachers have postponed their sell-out show at the 02 Academy in Birmingham tonight (Tuesday).

The concert has been cancelled due to an illness to lead singer James Dean Bradfield.

A spokesman for the band said he had no more details about the vocalist's illness.

The 02 Academy said that it was hoped a new date could be scheduled into the Manics' current tour.

An announcement through the venue's Facebook page read: "We are in the process of rescheduling a new date and will announce it later on today - as always all tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date."

The Welsh rockers recently released their tenth album Postcards from a Young Man, which was accompanied by the single (It's Not War) Just the End of Love.
