Michele White is the new president of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
Jewellery designer and gemmologist Michele was born and educated in London.
On leaving school she trained in ceramics and subsequently taught Three-Dimensional Arts. After marrying in 1970 she relocated to Birmingham, where for several years she was a teacher of autistic children.
However, in the pursuit of a means of self-expression Michele enrolled at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, where she learned the traditional techniques of working with precious metals.
In 1995 Michele was awarded a Diploma in Gemmology, becoming a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. The following year she passed the Association's Diamond examination and became a Diamond Member of the Association.
She was elected a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 2000.
