It's busy, busy, busy with jazz of every shape and size around town this week. Whether it's small combo contemporary jazz, big band swing or a fully orchestral retro extravaganza, everything is possible in the next few days.

Start tomorrow evening at the Recital Hall in Birmingham Conservatoire with the triumphant return of former Conservatoire jazz course student Alcyona Mick leading a quintet.

Mick, a pianist and composer of great potential - and rapidly realising it, too - has moved on to the Royal Academy and is now making her mark in London.

For this gig she is joined by Robbie Robertson on trumpet, Mark Hanslip on saxophone, Phil Donkin on bass and Asaf Sirkis on drums.

This Birmingham Jazz presentation starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Central Library Box Office on 0121 303 2323.
