A complete suite of furniture has been covered in tea leaves as part of an exhibition of work by a Birmingham student.

Fine art student Vicky Sheward created a tea party scene by coating a table, chairs, cake stand, and crockery in tea leaves.

The display is in a show for final-year students, which opens to the public at the University of Derby on Monday.

Miss Sheward, 21, from Perry Barr, has called her exhibit Equalitea.

"I do like tea but the main reason was because it is an interesting topic area," she said. "Coating the furniture with tea leaves symbolises how opium was hidden in tea and smuggled into the country in the past."

The furniture was coated in glue before two layers of tea leaves was applied.

The students' art show is open from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 11am to 3pm on Saturday until June 11.
