That he went the majority of the night without mentioning his head of sixth form role from The Inbetweeners was testament to Greg Davies’s abilities as a stand-up.

Rounding off his Glee Club performance he was asked to recite a phrase – too rude to repeat here – from the series.

The request was from audience member Nathan who, celebrating his 40th birthday, thought only of the moment and yelled out.

It was a fitting thing for Nathan to do with the theme of Davies’s show, Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog, being points in his life when he had acted ‘in the moment’.

It may be a bit theoretical-sounding, but the reality was a funny show in which Davies recites comic experiences, ranging from school name-calling, children in space and a dog that once blocked his path – and was therefore fired at with cheeseballs.
