With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this lovely story of Lucy and Glenn’s engagement – and the extra little surprise from Sonny’s Jewellery – will melt your heart!

Newly engaged couple, Lucy and Glen, met shortly after they both decided to give online dating a whirl. The connection was instant, and they met every weekend after their first meeting, falling head over heels in love. Nine months on, and Lucy now has a diamond dazzler on her ring finger.

When setting out to buy the perfect ring for Lucy, Glen knew that going to Birmingham’s renowned Jewellery Quarter would give him a good choice of beautifully made rings.

“Like most men, I didn’t know exactly what to look for. Sonny’s were by far the most knowledgeable and helpful. At the end of my time with them I felt confident that I knew what to buy and what to look for.

“It wasn’t the nerve wracking and stressful experience you fear it will be!” said Glen.

Glen proposed using a treasure hunt asking Lucy questions about their relationship and taking her to places that were special to her, culminating in a visit to the Cotswolds where Glen got down on one knee. He asked the big question with the engagement ring beautifully wrapped in a box.

“Lucy is a stylish lady, so I wanted to get her a timeless ring. I also knew that she would love it to sparkle. When I came into Sonny’s, they were not only friendly and warm, but really helpful in explaining what I should look for based on what was important to me. I left knowing she would love the ring!” says Glen.

With the help of the team at Sonny’s, Glen proposed to Lucy with a beautiful, bespoke platinum solitaire ring, with a dazzling, round brilliant cut diamond for extra sparkle.

She said yes! And the newly engaged couple then went onto celebrate their engagement with a wonderful dinner in a cosy country pub.

“I love sparkle and when Glen opened the box, I couldn’t believe how beautiful and sparkly the ring was. I love it: it is such a classic, stunning engagement ring. My friends and family love it, too!”

“The lead-up to the proposal itself was so special, thoughtful and creative. It’s a day I’ll always cherish,” Lucy gushed.

Little did Glen know, his wonderfully thoughtful proposal to his now fiancé, Lucy, would earn him his own surprise – a gift of complimentary wedding bands from Sonny’s Jewellery. The Birmingham-based jeweller held a competition throughout the summer where customers buying engagement rings could enter their names into a raffle to win their wedding bands.

Glen and Lucy were picked out of a hat and the pair chose luxurious, matching platinum wedding bands with a shining high finish. They’ve also been engraved with Lucy and Glen’s own personal messages by Sonny’s, ready for the big day!

The happy couple are hoping to get married in the summer of 2019, and have begun the new year fully engrossed in wedding planning.

“It’s all very exciting and we can’t wait! 2018 was magical for us and being gifted our beautiful wedding bands by Sonny’s made our engagement, and the year, even more memorable. It will help towards our wedding costs massively and we’re so grateful for this gift. We’ve met all the team at Sonny’s now and they’re all so kind and warm. Our wedding rings and Lucy’s engagement ring are stunning and will be forever cherished,” said Lucy and Glen.

In 2019, Sonny’s Jewellery will be mixing things up a little for their next competition by making a generous contribution of £1000 towards one lucky customer’s engagement ring purchase! Customers buying an engagement ring will be entered into a draw and the winner will have £1000 towards their engagement ring purchase refunded. The competition will run from February 1, 2019 until November 30, 2019, so you might want to add Sonny’s to your list of jewellery shops to peruse if you’re thinking of proposing this year!
