The UK’s largest specialist wine-seller is to stock two of St Austell Brewery’s flagship beers in stores and online.

Majestic, which is growing rapidly and has just opened a new store in Beaconsfield, Greater London, will list the Cornish company’s Tribute Pale Ale and Proper Job IPA on its website and in 200 stores nationwide.

St Austell Brewery, an independent, family-owned brewer, said Tribute, at 4.2% ABV, is its best-selling beer. Brewed with Cornish gold and Maris Otter malts, it is described as “light, hoppy and zesty”.

Majestic customers will also be able to buy award-winning Proper Job, which is stronger at 5.5% ABV and the fastest growing premium ale brand in the UK off-trade.

The brew is described by St Austell Brewery as “big, bold, and powerfully hopped, it explodes with citrus, pineapple, and grapefruit notes”.

The UK’s premium bottled ale category has grown in value by 24% during the past year. As a result of this rising demand, and the recent growth in at-home drinking, Majestic is continuing to expand its beer range and complete beer, wwne and spirits offering.

Andrew Turner, managing director of St Austell Brewery’s Beer & Brands, said: “We’re very proud to see two of our great brands on the shelves in Majestic stores across the country.

“The taste credentials and consistency of these beers have made them firm favourites with ale drinkers, in the West Country and beyond. With 37 years of combined success, both beers still have a loyal and growing following today.

“We hope that existing fans of our beers will be pleased to hear about the new listing, and that Tribute and Proper Job will appeal to Majestic customers looking to try something new.”

Majestic has been in business for 40 years and revealed its new London store comes after what it called a “transformational year” which has seen the launch of new branding, a 65% change in products stocked, a new website and two other new stores in addition to the new London outlet.

Majestic has also revealed it has seen record new customers, 70% of whom have come through its stores, and significant online growth too during the past year.

The company has also been refitting some of its key sites including the flagship Clapham store, which is due to reopen in March 2021, and removing pink branding as introduced before it separated its Naked Wines subscription-only part of the business.

John Storm, head of buying at Majestic Wine said: “We’ve seen significant growth in our premium bottled ale sales over the past year and our customers are constantly on the lookout for new beer styles to try at home.

“We’re delighted to be stocking Tribute and Proper Job in our stores, meeting our customer’s demand for a wider beer range, and giving them a true taste of Cornwall.”
