Refuse chiefs in Walsall have announced their changed waste collection times for Christmas and New Year.

Residents are being warned that collections for their grey and green bins will change from Monday 17 December and will not return to the usual timetable until the new year.

Bin collections during the period will be carried out as follows:

Mondays

-Grey and green bins will be emptied on Monday 17 and 31 December.

-There will be no collections on Monday 24 December.

-Collections return to normal from Monday 7 January 2019.

Tuesdays

Bin collections may be disrupted in Walsall

-Grey and green bins will be emptied on Tuesday 18 December and Friday 28 December.

-There will be no collections on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

-Collections will return to normal from Tuesday 8 January 2019.

The authority has confirmed that, for people whose bin is not emptied until Tuesday 15 January, refuse collectors will take a maximum of three additional waste bags that day.

Wednesdays

-Grey and green bins will be emptied on Wednesday 19 December 2018 and Wednesday 2 January 2019.

-There will be no collections on Wednesday 26 December 2018.

-Collections will return to normal from Wednesday 9 January 2019.

Thursdays

-Grey and green bins will be emptied on Thursday 20 December 2018 and Thursday 3 January 2019.

-There will be no collections on Thursday 27 December 2018.

-Collections will return to normal from Thursday 10 January 2019.

Fridays

-Grey and green bins will be emptied on Friday 21 December 2018 and Friday 4 January 2019.

-There will be no collections on Friday 28 December 2018.

-Collections return to normal from Friday 11 January 2019.

The council has further advised that no additional bagged waste would be collected apart from collections falling on Tuesday 15 January.

Excess rubbish should be taken to the local tips, which are also subject to changed opening times.
