This is moment flames engulf rows of coaches in an industrial estate sending thick plumes of smoke high into the blue sky.

A fierce blaze is currently tearing through Solus Coach Travel Ltd in Lichfield Road Industrial Estate in Tamworth.

The fire broke out at 1.30pm on Saturday and the single decker coaches, which were not in use, were soon well alight. Loud bangs can also be heard as the vehicles burnt to a shell.

There are no reports of injuries at this moment.

The thick black billowing smoke could be seen for miles around and the public are being asked to avoid the site.

Teams of fire crews from neighbouring towns and West Midlands Fire Service are at the incident which is being described as ‘serious’.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue tweeted: “We currently have a large fire in progress on the Lichfield Road industrial estate in Tamworth. There are 6 appliances in attendance dealing with a number of coaches on fire.”

Staffordshire Police said: “We are supporting Stafford Fire and Rescue at a large fire at Solus Coach Travel Ltd, Tamworth.

“We request that members of the public stay away from the location for their own safety.”

Crews are on the scene from Tamworth, Lichfield, Rugeley, Needwood and West Midlands Fire Service.

Reiss Omari, from Great Barr, was at a dealership as the fire broke out.

The 26-year-old said: “I just happened to be in the car dealership and we could just see black smoke rising, the smoke is quite high.

“People are asking and trying to figure out where it was coming from.

“Many people actually walking towards Ventura Park to get a better view.”

Sarah Gayton was in St Editha’s Square in Tamworth, when she saw the smoke.

She said: “A customer told me that there was a fire and I turned around to see black thick smoke in the sky.

“I heard lots of sirens and wonder what was going on and it soon became clear when I saw the smoke. I hope that nobody is injured.”
