There will be a total of 20 stops on the new rapid Sprint bus route between Birmingham City Centre and Walsall under plans revealed by Transport for West Midlands.

The detailed proposals show that the faster bus service along the A34 will visit Newtown, Perry Barr centre, Tower Hill, the Scott Arms, The Bell and and Walsall Broadway.

A stop at Aston Six Ways is also being considered.

The line is scheduled to be built and ready to open by 2022, in time for the Commonwealth Games when it will ferry spectators to Alexander Stadium.

It is one of three Sprint routes scheduled to open by 2022, with a further four due to arrive by 2026.

Commuters and residents using or living near the route will be able to find out more and comment on the detailed plans between now and the end of September.

They will also get the opportunity to speak to staff at two consultation exhibitions being held in September.

The first is at the Scott Arms shopping centre, Great Barr between 1pm and 7pm on Thursday, September 6. The second is at Park Street, near Poundland, in Walsall town centre from 2pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 19.

There is also an event in High Street Birmingham City Centre between 9am and 3pm on Saturday, September 22.
