The announcement of the nation selected to host the World Cup in 2018 will be broadcast live on the BBC big screen in Victoria Square, Birmingham, on Thursday.

The successful bid, chosen from England, Russia, Spain/Portugal and Belgium/Netherlands, will be announced by FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, between 2.45 and 3.30pm on Thursday.

Birmingham is one of the host cities in the England bid and Villa Park will be one of the venues if the England bid is successful.

Stakeholders from the Birmingham bid including former Aston Villa favourite Ian Taylor, children from Hodge Hill School and Birmingham City Council’s Assistant Director of Sport and Events, Steve Hollingworth will be in attendance.
