A Midland bride who was flung from a horse and carriage on the way to her wedding was taken back to hospital yesterday after she “took a turn for the worse”.

Sophie Clarke, aged 29, was with her father Bob on her way to church to marry 36-year-old Karl Woods on Saturday when the horse galloped off after being scared by traffic in the village of Blackminster, near Evesham in Worcestershire. Miss Clarke, an accountant from South Littleton, Worcestershire, suffered a bump to her head and injuries to her ankle.

Paramedics took her back to hospital yesterday after her mother, Pauline Clarke, 56, dialled 999.

Mrs Clarke said: “Hopefully she will be fine. I’m just glad she is alive.”

The wedding is rescheduled for January.
