Worcester City's reign as Nationwide North leaders lasted just 48 hours after they were held to a goalless draw by Alfreton Town yesterday.

The result means Andy Preece's men slip to third, one point behind Blyth Spartans.

Nuneaton Borough's miserable start to the season continued with a third defeat in four games, losing 2-1 at Hucknall Town.

First-half goals from Gary Ricketts on 19 minutes, and Liam Hearns ten minutes before half-time put the hosts in charge and Gary McPhee's last-minute strike was a mere consolation.

Moors and Redditch United also had unhappy trips home after their travels.

Moors' day at the seaside ended with a 3-0 defeat at Scarborough. Darren Thorn-ton's goal three minutes before half-time gave the hosts - who had not won all season - a timely lift and a Chris Thompson penalty midway through the second period and a Ryan Blott strike four minutes into stoppage-time sealed the points.

Redditch conceded at the start and the end of their match at Hinckley United to lose 3-1. Leon Jackson gave the Knitters the perfect start after two minutes and Neil Cartwright made it 2-0 on 57 minutes. But Carl Palmer halved the deficit with 15 minutes left, only for Andy Brown to hit Hinckley's third a minute from time.

Two goals from Matty Lewis sparked Halesowen Town to a convincing 3-1 win at Gloucester City in the British Gas Business Southern Premier.

Alex Cowley was also on target for the Yeltz, who have now won both their away fixtures. All the Town goals came in a six-minute spell either side of half-time.

Evesham United ruined Malvern Town's hopes of claiming top spot in the Midlands Division and climbed into third place after a 2-0 win at Langland Stadium.

Richard Ball opened the scoring on 15 minutes and Steve Lutz struck again on the stroke of half-time to end Malvern's unbeaten start.

Brackley Town leap-frog previous table-toppers Stourbridge - who play tonight at Willenhall Town - after a 3-1 win at Solihull Borough. Michael Crawford's first goal for Boro on 43 minutes had given the hosts home at 2-1 but Phil Hadland's 90th-minute effort added to first-half goals from Tom Winters and Elliot Sandy.

Tyrone Barnett kept his nerve to convert a 29th-minute penalty as Rushall Olympic defeated Walsall neighbours Chasetown 1-0 at Dales Lanes, while Bedworth strike pair Jae Martin (2) and Adam Kinder sent Sutton Coldfield Town to a 3-0 home defeat.
