A woman has been treated for severe smoke inhalation after being rescued from a house fire in West Bromwich.

The blaze occurred at a mid-terrace bungalow in Old Meeting Street at about 8pm on Monday.

The woman, aged 63, was pulled unconscious from the burning building by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

She received oxygen therapy treatment for severe smoke inhalation.

Crews from West Bromwich and Wednesbury stations tackled the fire at the scene, with police and ambulance crews also in attendance.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman was initially unconscious but later revived and taken to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
