An elderly woman has lost a five-day fight for life after suffering severe burns in an explosion in her kitchen.
Norma Harris, aged 69, of Hampton Lane, Solihull, is understood to have suffered 30 per cent burns in the incident on May 30
She was flown by air ambulance to the specialist burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital but died on Friday.
It is understood Mrs Harris was found by one of her two sons, who raised the alarm.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said it appeared gas had gathered when she left the oven on for a few moments before lighting it.
