The woman behind The Public - the £40 million arts centre which last week went into administration - has been presented with an outstanding achievement award.
Sylvia King received the honour last night at Sandwell Borough Council's second annual Women of Achievement Awards, held at Birchley Social Club in Oldbury.
A spokeswoman for The Public said Ms King was being recognised for her contribution to community arts and the regeneration of Sandwell over the last 30 years.
It was announced last week that, with costs spiralling, the West Bromwich-based complex was going into administration in a bid to rescue the project and safeguard 81 jobs.
Staff are waiting for confirmation that the administrators have been appointed and are going to work as usual.
