A senior project co-ordinator with a company providing child-minding facilities who fleeced her employer out of £13,000 has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Mr Recorder Richard Atkins told Angela Woodford that her dishonest activities could have brought the company she worked for to its knees “or worse”, but said he had taken into account the effect sending her to prison would have on her children.

Woodford, aged 44, of Orrell, Wigan, who had previously admitted five charges of theft, was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work. Birmingham Crown Court, was told Woodford had worked for Burbury Park Childminder Resource Centre in Newtown between April 2007 and February last year.
