A woman has been arrested after a 30-year-old man was stabbed to death, police have said.

Officers were called to a property on Tideswell Road, Perry Barr, in the early hours of Sunday after a man sustained a single stab wound. The man, who has not been named, was taken to hospital where he later died.

A 30-year-old woman, named locally as Emma Bates and who is believed to live at the same address with her two children, was last night in police custody in connection with the stabbing.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “Officers were called to an address on Tideswell Road shortly after 2.30am on Sunday after a man was found with a stab wound.

“The man was taken to hospital where he later died. A post-mortem examination has been conducted which confirmed the man died as a result of a single stab wound. A 30-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death and she remains in custody helping with our inquiries.”

Neighbours on the street said they were “shocked” to find out that someone had died.
