A woman has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at a golf club in Staffordshire.

The incident happened at Lichfield Golf and Country Club, in Tewnals Lane, Elmhurst, at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A woman was in cardiac arrest in the gym at the club when crews arrived and was being given CPR by bystanders.

“Crews took over resuscitation attempts, administering advanced life support, and managed to restart her heart.

"The woman was quickly transferred to the awaiting helicopter and airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment.
