Wolves have confirmed the appointment of Stale Solbakken as the club's new manager from next season.

The 44-year-old Norwegian has signed a contract and will officially take over on 1st July 2012.

Solbakken said: "I am delighted to be taking up the important challenge to manage Wolves. It's an exciting opportunity to manage a great club and I can't wait to get started."

Chief executive Jez Moxey said no further comment will be made until Solbakken is officially unveiled at a press conference on Monday morning.

However, he added: "Following talks with Stale Solbakken I am happy to confirm that he has agreed to become our new manager. He will be formally introduced to the media on Monday."

Terry Connor will manage the team for the final game of the season against Wigan on Sunday, completing the agreement made when he took on the position in February.

Solbakken has previously managed FC Copenhagen in Denmark and FC Koln in Germany.

He had 58 caps as a player for Norway, scoring nine goals from midfield.
