You've watched the season unfold, now choose your player of the year.
With another eventful season drawing to a close, it?s the perfect time to reflect. Who do you think has been Warwickshire?s outstanding performer?
Now it?s up to you ? the supporters ? to vote for your player of the season. The Birmingham Post has teamed up with Warwickshire CCC and Shakespeares solicitors to offer a new award: The Birmingham Post Player of the Year in association with Shakespeares.
Judgments should be made on performances for Warwickshire ? not in international cricket ? in the 2005 county season only.
Will you choose Dougie Brown, the club?s leading wicket-taker in the Championship at the age of 35, or Nick Knight, who has led from the front and is the team?s leading run-scorer in the Championship and the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy?
Or will it be Jonathan Trott, who battled through a tough patch to score successive centuries in one-day cricket and passed 1,000 first-class runs, or Neil Carter who has enjoyed the best all-round season of his career?
Or perhaps you?ll vote for Ashley Giles or Ian Bell, who provided excellent service when they were available? Heath Streak and Makhaya Ntini also produced memorable performances while Alex Loudon and James Anyon promised much for the future.
The winning player will receive the Birmingham Post Player of the Year in association with Shakespeares award at the club?s end-of-season reception on Sunday September 25, after the completion of the totesport League match against Durham ? the final match of the season. Tickets for the reception cost #8 and are available from the club. Telephone 0870 062 1902 to book yours.
