A 59-year-old lecturer who taught science at a West Bromwich academy has admitted biting off the end of his wife’s nose during a heated argument.

Father-of-six Nicholas Gough, of Headland Road, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, was remanded in custody by Judge Michael Challinor having admitted wounding with intent.

Gough, who tried to persuade wife of 24 years Lynne to blame their pet dog for her injuries, was remanded until March 23.

Jon Roe, defending, said Gough, who taught at West Bromwich’s Phoenix Collegiate Academy, had little recollection of the incident, but accepted his estranged wife’s account.
