West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has insisted none of his front-line players will be leaving the club during the January transfer window after rejecting Bolton's £3million bid for midfielder James Morrison.
Mowbray is adamant Bolton's interest in the Scotland international is "dead as far as myself and James are concerned" ahead of Saturday's home FA Cup tie with Peterborough.
Mowbray is unhappy that Bolton's bid became public knowledge, but is confident Morrison will not be distracted. And Mowbray is looking to bring in further loan signings during the coming month after securing the services of Arsenal striker Jay Simpson.
Morrison has been one of the Baggies' most consistent performers during the first half of the campaign, although they are still occupying bottom spot in the Premier League.
Mowbray said: "Will any of my better players be leaving in January? I don't think so. I don't think we are in a position to sell anyone at the moment.
"It is always a positive when other teams want your players. It shows they are doing something well.
"I can't see any reasons why we would want to sell any of our players. We are in a situation where we have got to stick together, work extremely hard and try and get enough points to stay up.
"We need to make sure we can build next season on the squad we have to try and improve this club, not sell its best players off."
Mowbray added: "I was disappointed that any conversations regarding James between the clubs came out. It is not, in my mind, the way business should be done.
"It can disrupt footballers, not that it will with James because he is a diamond of a lad and knows he is the right place for his career to develop.
"If his career is to move on from West Brom at any time, it will be at the right time - and that moment isn't now. I am trying to be respectful to the club that made contact, but it is not something that would appeal to him."
Simpson is one of Arsenal's most exciting young prospects and the 20-year-old will go to straight into the squad for the cup meeting with Darren Ferguson's side.
Mowbray is hoping Simpson will develop as a player during his spell with Albion so he can return to the Emirates Stadium as a player able to make his mark for the Gunners in their bid to challenge for Premier League and Champions League glory.
Mowbray said: "Jay is an exciting young talent. Until someone is thrust in at the level he is now going to be asked to play at, you don't really know about them.
"But he has got the mobility, the talent in his feet, the drive and desire to be a footballer at this level.
"Let's hope, when the opportunity comes, he makes an impact and becomes a firm favourite with our team and our fans. Arsenal are a team trying to win the Champions League and the Premier League. They have got young players who are probably not quite at that level yet.
"But they could fit in comfortably at the level of a Premier League side trying to stay in the division. Mr Wenger probably is happy for Jay to test himself week in and week out in the Premier League.
"That is the ideal scenario for him with a player who will probably not feature much at the moment when the likes of (Emmanuel) Adebayor and (Robin) Van Persie are in front of him."
Albion reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season before losing to Portsmouth and Mowbray wants to use the competition as a positive to go hand in hand with the club's recent revival, which has brought wins over Manchester City and Tottenham.
He said: "Every club has to look at the FA Cup in their own way. For us, it is another opportunity to try and keep some positive results rolling along.
"A good cup run last year didn't do us any harm in tandem with trying to get promoted. It gave the players some belief and confidence going so far in the cup."
Morrison could be rested against Posh with a tight groin as a precaution, but Gianni Zuiverloon is definitely out with a knee problem. Fellow defender Paul Robinson will return after suspension.
