Warwickshire Juniors continued their record success in the Midland 4 Counties Tournament yesterday at Cleobury Mortimer in the tournament which starts the competitive Junior Golf Calendar each year, by going undefeated in the annual round-robin match against Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Staffordshire.

Now in its 41st year, Warwickshire have won the 4 Counties 11 times and with this triumph, six years in succession, beating the four consecutive triumphs of Gloucestershire with last year's win.

Worcestershire were accounted for 51/2 to 21/2 on Saturday afternoon then Gloucestershire 5-3 on Sunday morning [2014] Warwickshire also having beaten the south Midlands county in last year's County Championships where they so narrowly lost to Yorkshire for the National title

The eight Warwickshire Juniors all contributed at least a point and much of the golf was spectacular with three players posting six or more birdies each in the final match against Staffordshire, which went to Warwickshire 6-2.

The win continued Warwickshire's unbeaten start to 2006, their Centenary season, and this crop of Juniors has the potential to reach the English Finals once again. They will attempt to qualify at Gainsborough in late May, taking on all nine other Midland counties, in strokeplay rather than matchplay, to try to reach the 2006 English finals at Pannal in late August.
