A 49-year-old man was killed as he was struck by a car while lying in the road in Walsall, traffic police said.

The unnamed victim was struck by a Rover at about 9pm on Saturday and died in hospital shortly afterwards.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “A man from Walsall was believed to be lying in the road when he was in collision with a red Rover driven by a 27-year-old man.

“The victim was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.” Officers want to trace two other vehicles seen travelling along Darlaston Road at the time of the tragedy. Anyone with information urged to contact Walsall road policing unit on 0845 113 5000.
