Mark Wagh suffered a new injury scare on the second day of Warwickshire's Second XI Championship match against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.

Wagh, who missed almost all of last season with a serious knee injury, spent the whole day off the field with his foot in ice. However, the probelm is not thought to be connected to his earlier injury and a few days' rest is likely to restore him to full fitness.

Tim Groenewald is also an injury worry. A side strain prevented him bowling yesterday and he must be considered a doubt for Sunday's Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy match.

Warwickshire are struggliing to avoid defeat on the final day of the match. A second-wicket stand of 249 between Michael Brown (159) and Chris Benham (102) helped the hosts to 501 for seven declared; a first-innings lead of 299. Greg Lamb made 85.

None of the main Warwickshire bowlers enjoyed a successful day. Lee Daggett (one for 73), Naqaash Tahir (one for 58), Nick Warren (one for 42) and Nick James (one for 52) each took a wicket. Andrew Miller took none for 71) and Moeen Ali none for 46. Part-time seamer Sam Seadon took two for 14. In their second innings Warwickshire closed on 124 for three, with Navdeep Poonia (63), Freddie Klokker (17) and James (19) out, and require 175 more to make Hampshire bat again.
