A NEW VIP charter airline has finally landed in Birmingham – with stars such as Madonna, John Terry and James Milner on the new firm’s horizon.

Cello Aviation, based at Birmingham Airport’s Elmdon Terminal, is set to bring a touch of glamour to West Midlands skies with top showbiz and sporting stars targeted by the region’s newest airline.

It is understood that talks have already taken place with the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa for overseas trips, while Madonna and the World Wrestling Federation are also lined up as customers.

Birmingham Airport has been chosen as a base because of its central location and its corporate jet handling capability, and around 20 new jobs, including management, flight deck and cabin crew positions, have been created.

Tony Farmer, Cello’s Manager Marketing and Sales, said: “Customer groups including sports teams, entertainment groups, luxury weddings and product launch customers are targeted to use the specialist aircraft.

“Inquiries to date have exceeded all expectations, with Premier League football teams as well as German and French car companies planned to be some of the first users of the aircraft in June.”

Joe Kelly, Birmingham Airport’s Deputy CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome Cello Aviation to Birmingham Airport.”

Cello has fitted out a luxury Avro ABJ aircraft offering 46 first-class seats with in-flight service and a Europe-wide flying range.
