Celebrity violinist Nigel Kennedy has suffered a fractured arm – throwing a huge doubt over a planned concert in Birmingham.

The popular musician was due to perform an evening of jazz with the Nigel Kennedy Quintet at Symphony Hall on November 25. Last night promoters Kennedy Street and Symphony Hall bosses were still in discussions over whether the concert would go ahead. Kennedy last performed at the Birmingham venue in May 2005.

A Symphony Hall spokeswoman said: "We can confirm Nigel Kennedy will not be performing on November 25, and we will be contacting all ticket holders to make alternative arrangements or offer a refund."

It is not yet known how Kennedy fractured his arm.
