A retired couple from the West Midlands are celebrating after winning £9 million on the Lotto with a ticket bought on the unluckiest day in the calendar - Friday 13th.

Irene and Ronald Jones, from Bilston, bought the ticket shortly after a mirror at their home fell off the living room wall and smashed.

Mrs Jones, aged 69, said she had expected seven years bad luck as a result.

Little did she know that the ticket her 75-year-old husband bought while the couple were out shopping locally would net them £9,355,603 in the triple Lotto rollover.

Mr and Mrs Jones, who are both retired shoe machine operators, said that they had not yet decided what to do with their windfall winnings, but would make their first purchase "a dream bungalow".
