A never-released track recorded by Jimi Hendrix 40 years ago is set to go under the hammer in New York after being unearthed in a cupboard.
The recording of the song Station Break was made at a session early in the guitarist's career as a solo artist, according to the merchant bank organising the auction.
Its co-composer, RSVP Music president Jerry Simon, stumbled on the reel in a cupboard in his home more than a decade ago.
Simon was the producer at the 1966 session at Allegro Sound Studios in New York when, as well as the lost track, Hendrix instrumentals were also recorded.
The recording will be sold at the Ocean Tomo Fall 2006 Live Intellectual Property Auction in October, the first to include patents, trademarks, domain names and copyrights.
