Birmingham University duo Sophie Bray and Sarah Page dramatically led Great Britain Youth (women) to gold medal success in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney by beating the host nation 3-2 with a golden goal seven minutes into extra time.
Bray became the hero, scoring the deciding goal after the Australian goalkeeper had saved a penalty corner.
This followed a pulsating last two minutes of normal time during which Page had equalised for GB immediately followed by a second Australian goal, and in the final minute Harriet Pearce of Clifton netted the second equaliser via an Australian deflection.
This was the second successive tournament gold medal win for the GB women.
GB Youth (men) won the bronze medal with a 5-2 defeat of Malaysia. Substitute Chris Gregg of Loughborough Students scored twice.
