Two men were gunned down in Church Vale, Handsworth, shortly after 8pm on Friday in the latest shooting to hit the city.
One of the victims, 23, suffered several gunshot wounds to the body and was lucky to survive the apparently unprovoked shooting. The other victim, aged 33, sustained a single gunshot wound to his leg.
West Midlands Police said that neither of the men sustained life-threatening injuries and were later described as stable in an undisclosed hospital.
The gunman fled on foot from the area immediately after the shooting and is still being sought by police.
The area has suffered a number of gangland-style gun crimes in recent months, including a similar double shooting in Albert Road, Handsworth, on May 26.
