Commuters faced lengthy delays out of Birmingham on Monday evening after an accident on the northbound A38.

Two cars and a motorcyclist were involved in the accident at 6pm, which resulted in police closing two lanes of the out of city carriageway of the Aston Expressway (A38M) at Dartmouth Circus.

The closure saw queues back to the Queensway tunnel in the city centre while police, fire and ambulance crews worked to treat the casualties.

The woman motorcyclist was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-threatening.

All three lanes of the motorway were re-opened at 6.40pm but traffic delays remained until past 7pm.
