Two men have been arrested after a dad-of-one was stabbed in the neck when he went to investigate a car crash in a Birmingham street.
John Glynn, aged 46, was stabbed and beaten up in Caldwell Road, Bordesley Green, after he confronted the men when he heard the car crash.
He staggered to a neighbour’s door for help after the incident at 6am on Sunday. He remains in hospital with serious neck and head injuries which are not life threatening.
Police said two men, aged 24 and 23, both from Bordesley Green, have been arrested in connection with wounding and arson.
Police were initially called to reports of an road traffic collision on Caldwell Road, near to the junction of Norton Crescent.
But details emerged about an altercation in which a man was seriously assaulted.
The vehicle involved was a blue Ford Focus which was left at the scene with fire damage. Detectives are investigating whether the car was stolen before the crash.
Detective Sergeant Ian Wilkins said: “I would appeal for anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward as soon as possible.”
