Jim Troughton hit 93 as Warwickshire 2nd XI recovered well on the opening day of their Championship game against Glamorgan at Moseley.

Warwickshire had been reeling at 36 for three (Keith Piper 0, Ian Westwood 20, Moeen Ali ten) after winning the toss, but Troughton (149 balls, 15 fours) helped his side post a respectable 344 all out on a pitch offering the bowlers some assistance.

Naqaash Tahir (34), Trevor Penney (33) and Danny Dalton (45) also weighed in while Nick Warren responded well to the decision to drop him from the first team, striking eight fours and a six in his 61.

Perhaps equally significant in the long term was the reappearance of Naqaash as a bowler, for the first time in competitive cricket since his back injury. Glamorgan finished on 42 without loss.
