Victory over Stoke City tonight would put Wolverhampton Wanderers into the play-off positions in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Wolves missed the chance to make the top six last Saturday when they only drew 0-0 away to Queens Park Rangers - their 15th draw of the season - but can make amends at Molineux tonight.

With perfect timing, Tomasz Frankowski, the Wolves striker, has been named Polish footballer of the year at an awards ceremony in Warsaw.

The 31-year-old has yet to score in seven appearances for Wolves after a £1.4 million January move from Elche of Spain.

However, he won 40 per cent of the vote, putting him ahead of Ebi Smolarek, of Borussia Dortmund and Celtic's Maciej Zurawski.

"I'm very happy to win this award, especially when I look at the names of the other players who were also nominated," Frankowski said. "But this award is for what happened last year and now I'm thinking about what I can do in the future.

"I have to show the manager at Wolves I have good form and then I'll be able to show the supporters what I can do."

Frankowski was an integral figure in Poland reaching the World Cup finals, scoring seven goals in qualification.

Wolves hope to have defender Gabor Gyepes ready to return against Stoke after his absence with a back injury.

Mark Clyde (calf) and Seol Ki-Hyeon (skin infection) are also available but centre-back Jody Crad-dock is ruled out with knee ligament trouble.

Johan Boskamp, the Stoke manager, is boosted by the return of Carl Hoefkens and Dave Brammer for the trip to Molineux. The duo missed the last-gasp defeat at Norwich City on Saturday because of suspension.

Mamady Sidibe may also be in contention after nose surgery but Hannes Sigurdsson is a doubt with a hernia injury.

* Wolves' match at home to Watford, which was originally scheduled for Saturday April 15 at 3pm, will now be played at 5.15pm on Good Friday, April 14.
