Detectives are investigating the death of a baby girl in Birmingham.
A woman and two men were arrested on suspicion of assault following the death of the four-month-old in West Heath on December 31.
They were later released on bail pending further inquiries, West Midlands Police said. The baby, from the West Heath area of the city, was taken to hospital by ambulance two days before she died.
A police spokesman said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and inquiries are currently ongoing. Police await the results of a post-mortem.
"Two men, aged 20 and 22, and a woman, aged 18, have been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed while further enquiries take place. The baby is not being named at this stage."
Birmingham City Council's local safeguarding children board has also launched an inquiry. A council spokesman said: "Local Safeguarding Children Boards have a statutory duty to review all child deaths, particularly those that appear to be due to abuse or neglect.
"That process has started along with criminal investigations. We are unable to comment further while these are ongoing."
