Thieves have struck the Staffordshire home of billionaire businessman John Caudwell.

Money and jewellery have been taken from the home of the former Phones4U chief, who is listed in the Birmingham Post’s Rich List.

Staffordshire Police said thieves struck at Broughton Hall, near Eccleshall, on Monday night.

A police spokesman said a male occupant was assaulted and suffered a head injury.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The occupants, a man and his partner, were in the kitchen when the men burst through the door.

“They assaulted the man, who received an injury to his head.”

Officers have appealed for anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious to contact them.

The thieves were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.

Mr Caudwell now runs disabled children charity Caudwell Children after selling Phones 4U for £1.46 billion to private equity investors.
