Prince William has turned into a fan of the game of bingo.

The 24-year-old second in line to the throne visited a bingo hall near Sandhurst with his Army friends last weekend.

Carl White, general manager of the Mecca club in Reading, Berkshire, said yesterday that the prince "thoroughly enjoyed" the experience.

"There was a feelgood atmosphere in the hall. We have a mixed age range so the group of lads didn't look out of place," Mr White said.

"He seemed to have a good time and said goodbye to everybody, from what I understand. He said he thoroughly enjoyed himself."

Future King William did not win any money.
