Ten youths were injured, two seriously, when a wall collapsed while they waited in a queue to get into a rock club last night.

The 6ft wall which stood near the entrance to Rock Cafe 2000 in Stourbridge collapsed on a 700-strong queue of people attending for a DJ night aimed at teenagers.

Two were knocked unconscious and suffered pelvic injuries while six others suffered cuts and bruises from falling rubble.

The revellers had been queuing for a popular night called 'noise pollution', aimed at under 18s. The brick back wall separated the club from a car park and the part which collapsed was near the entrance to the club where the queue was busiest.

A bar worker said staff, who knew many of those injured, were shocked at what had happened but relieved nobody was killed in the accident.

"The moment the wall collapsed we got people to move away. Most got up themselves and were fine. People started trying to pick up the injured and they were told to stand aside for paramedics, who got here almost straight away.

"Two people were knocked unconscious but both came round before they were taken to hospital. One of them, a lad I know, said his leg hurt. Most people were in shock more than anything else."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said six people were treated at the scene.

"Two people had pelvic injuries, which we would class as serious. Their condition is stable.

"There were four 'walking wounded'. It shouldn't have happened in the first place but we are glad there were no serious injuries caused."
