A Birmingham teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman believed to be his mother.

Patricia Fort, 57, died of suspected stab wounds at Birmingham's Heartlands Hospital on Monday morning.

Emergency services found her critically injured at an address in Lanchester Way in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, shortly after 3am.
She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Jamie Fort, 18, of Lanchester Way, appeared before magistrates in Solihull on Wednesday morning.

Fort, dressed in a bright green T-shirt, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during the brief hearing.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on August 12.
