A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after being knocked unconscious when he fell from a rope swing in Tamworth.

The incident happened at a play area near to Moores Croft, in Edingale, at about 12.45pm on Tuesday afternoon.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The 18-year-old was injured and semi-conscious, and was being cared for by passers by when crews arrived.

“ He suffered head, chest and abdominal injuries and was experiencing some difficulty in breathing. It is believed he had been knocked unconscious for a short time."

Crews treated the teenager at the scene, before he was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham by air ambulance for further treatment.
