Williams De Broe opened their account this year with a comprehensive defeat of Mills and Reeve.
Charlie Lawson took a hat-trick in his haul of four wickets as Mills and Reeve were all out for 84.
Clearly in a rush to watch England in Euro 2012, Richard West set about knocking off the runs before retiring on 35 as Williams De Broe won by eight wickets. The gloss was taken off slightly for Michael Matthews as he fluffed a run-out chance with both Mills and Reeve batsman stranded at the same end.
He proceeded to drop the ball and then blamed his wicket-keeping gloves for the incident.
In the Cobbetts and CP Bigwood match-up, Rory Daley produced a stunning one handed catch behind the stumps which from all accounts could not be matched by Mark Kenkre of Cobbetts who unfortunately dropped a sitter and was then out for a duck after a ‘wild slash outside off stump’.
Jack Cantwell of Cobbetts also matched the high standards in the field with his contribution including a run-out with a direct hit on the stumps from 30 yards.
There was some gentle ribbing after the game with both sides clearly playing the game in the right spirit.
The match between No5 and The Lords Taverners fell victim to the weather for the second time and is to be re-arranged.
