Former Sunderland and Manchester City player Nicky Summerbee is set to make his Tamworth debut tomorrow among four new signings.

Lambs player-manager Mark Cooper says he is "99.9 per cent" confident that the 34-year-old midfielder will face Kidderminster Harriers in their Midlands derby at the Lamb.

The relegation-battling and much-depleted Lambs, who had 11 first-teamers missing last week, have also recruited Sheffield United pair Dominica Roma and Ben Starosta plus Coalville Town goal-keeper Sean Bowles.

The Lambs have offered a deal to former Walsall manager Paul Merson to lace up his boots once more though Cooper accepts it is unlikely the former England international will sign.

However, Cooper remains optimistic that former Aston Villa and Derby County front-runner Tommy Johnson, at Scunthorpe, will be a Tam-worth player within the next week.

Summerbee, twice the subject of million-pound transfers, trained with the Lambs yesterday. He has been at Tranmere and Swindon on loan this season from Bradford City.

Cooper said: "Nicky is looking to go and play and America in the summer so he sees this as a chance to get himself in tip-top form. He has trained with us and he enjoyed it and he has signed a contract. We are 99.9 per cent certain he will play on Saturday."

England Under-19 international Roma, a 21-year-old who can play right-back or left-back, has joined on loan from the Blades while academy player Starosta, a pacy right-winger or midfielder, has signed for 'work experience'.

Bowles will be making the step up from Midland Alliance side Coalville but the 22-year-old has been watched by the Lambs for the last year. Cooper, who has lost three keepers to injury this term, said: "He has been on trial at Newcastle and Leicester and I've spoken to people there who tell me they rate him highly."
