Dave Jones has praised team-mate Sylvan Ebanks-Blake whose goals against Swansea took returned Wolverhampton Wanderers to the top of the Championship.
Last year’s winner of the Golden Boot, joined Chris Iwelumo as the club’s leading scorer with nine goals with his brace against the Swans in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory and propelled Wolves to the top of the English leagues’ goalscoring charts with 33.
Midfielder Jones said: “Sylvan did really well with both goals. He held the ball up well in the box for the first one. I don’t think there anyone better in the division at twisting and turning and trying to find a yard.
“Once he gets into the box and he has the ball at his feet, he’s really dangerous. He’s very difficult to mark and he showed some good skills. He followed that up with a good header as well to give us the lead back after they had equalised.
“We had to grind out the win. They are a good side, we knew that from playing them a few weeks ago [when the Welshmen won 3-1 in the corresponding league fixture] so it was a relief when the final whistle blew and we had the three points in the bag.
“The playing surface was soft underfoot which made it a bit difficult but it was the same for both sides. I think that we passed it around quite well and Swansea did, too.”
More Welsh opponents await on Saturday, with Wolves travelling to Ninian Park for a first versus third clash against Cardiff City and former Molineux manager, another Dave Jones.
Wolves player Jones added: “Cardiff have done really well this season. They have only lost once and their goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, is one of my best mates in football. He’s on loan to them from Manchester United and has told me about how well they’ve been doing.
“They have had some sound results and have gradually worked their way up the table so it would be nice on Saturday to get a free-kick and put one past him.”
